That Christmas Feeling

Gifted vocalist Reta Watkins, who cut her musical teeth singing with her 'musicianary' family band, and later with the contemporary Christian band, Pilgrim's Progress, breaks new ground with her debut solo project, That Christmas Feeling.

On the new album, Reta revisits the rich repertoire of timeless holiday standards that have become the Christmas soundtrack for generations of Americans. The 10 lushly orchestrated tracks on the album were produced by Scott Williamson (Point of Grace, Lincoln Brewster) and showcase Reta's compelling vocal stylings. Tracks include the best of the big band era, along with a few more recent additions to the Christmas music lexicon.

BIO

RetaWatkins-847.jpg

Worship leader, vocalist and recording artist Reta Watkins was just six years old when she recorded her first single. Growing up the youngest of five children in a family of musical missionaries, Reta remembers life was an adventure.

“We lived by faith,” she muses. “We slept in a camper or in people’s homes. We received love offerings and sold records and tapes to support the ministry. Everyone in the family played an instrument. I gravitated toward percussion, but mostly, I was a singer. I wouldn’t take any of it back.”

LYRICS

Christmas in Heaven
JEREMY JOHNSON/PAUL MARINO

December hasn’t changed
This town looks the same
They still light that tree in the city square
There’s red, white and green shinin’ everywhere
And I wish you were here, and I wonder
Is the snow falling down on the streets of gold?
Are the mansions all covered in white?
Are you singing with angels ‘Silent Night’?
I wonder what Christmas in Heaven is like
There’s a little manger scene
Down on 3rd and Main
I must have walked right by it a thousand times
But I see it now in a different light
‘ Cause I know you are there and I wonder
Are you kneeling with shepherds before Him now?
Can you reach out and touch His face?
Are you part of that glorious Holy night?
I wonder what Christmas in Heaven is like
Is the snow falling down on the streets of gold?
Are the mansions all covered in white?
Are you singing with angels ‘Silent Night’?
I wonder what Christmas in Heaven is like

Behold Emmanuel
JEREMY JOHNSON/PAUL MARINO

Far away from home
An unfamiliar place
A cold and bitter wind
No walls to keep them safe
A cry the only sound
A star the only light
A mother holds a child
Peace on earth tonight
Heaven’s Glory
Placed within a humble world to dwell Son of God, Son of Man
Love is with us
Behold, Emmanuel
From stables’ muddy sod
Where cattle make their bed
A father’s song is born
To touch the souls of men
For every life that’s lost
For every heart that’s bound
It reaches out this night
As far as man is found
Heaven’s Glory
Placed within a humble world to dwell
Son of God, Son of Man
Love is with us
Behold, Emmanuel
